The 4th of July, A Big Day

A big day deserves a big post. We began the day with the parade in downtown Round Rock. Katie has deemed this a new tradition. Apparently, you are not supposed to drive the wrong way down the parade route prior to the parade starting. Some people call that rude. i call that looking for a parking spot.

Our friends the Guerras joined us in the parade watching and later on for a cookout and fireworks. Adeline and Emerson were not quite sure what to make of the parade at first.

Adeline and Mommy sat and watched for a while.

Then it was Dada's turn. What follows is just a small sampling of the various parade participants and other miscellaneous items which came down Main Street.

This lady was excited about riding this old fire engine.

This cutout of Senator Obama was a nice touch. However, admittedly there were more confused Republicans than excited Democrats along the parade route. Oh well...the Janssons cheered. Si se puede!

Huge gas guzzlers and beer; everything that Texas holds dear wrapped up in one nice package.

The VFW, true heroes.

Please note the "Native Texan" sticker. Enough said.

Later on we took Adeline and Emerson to see the fireworks at Old Settler's Park. Luckily we live about two mile from the park so didn't have far to walk to find a good spot.

Adeline was excited to be up past her bedtime.

By the time the fireworks started we were all a little tired but it was worth the wait. A good day.
