...she loves Elmo NOT!
Recently Adeline has developed quite a liking for Elmo, or in her words, "Melmo." Sesame Street has joined the rotation of shows we watch at our house and she takes a small plush Melmo doll to bed with her every night. However, Adeline has developed a love-hate relationship with the Tickle Me Elmo Extreme doll she received for her birthday last year. Everything is fine and dandy with Melmo Extremo until he is tickled and then, much like the adorable Mogwai from the Gremlins movie, he transforms into something much more dark and sinister. Melmo's shrill voice and repeated gyrations quickly change Adeline's affection towards him to unmitigated loathing and contempt.
What a betrayal! What rude behavior!
Cries of, "No Melmo No!" go up and Adeline swiftly neutralizes the situation by switching Melmo off. Then just as quickly as it came, the hatred of Melmo recedes and all is well in the Jansson household.
We are not quite sure how long this drama will continue to play itself out, but Katie and I are certainly enjoying watching Adeline and her on-again, off-again relationship with Melmo.
